Our Cross-Country Adventure, Day 24

Today is a travel day so this post won’t be heavy on pictures. We are headed for Custer, SD. The weather in this part of the country is going to turn colder by the end of the week and there is a possibility of snow. We want to have visited Mt. Rushmore, the Crazy Horse Memorial, the wildlife driving loop and the scenic drives around Custer.

We left our Air BNB in Island Park, Idaho and drove to West Yellowstone.

We supercharged and then headed west on Gallatin Road towards Big Sky, Montana. We started our drive in Idaho, were in Wyoming and then Montana. We would eventually end up in Wyoming for the night.

Our second charging session was in Big Sky, Montana. We love the name of the town, but I missed any pictures of the name.

We drove north on Gallatin Road towards Bozeman, Montana and the fog was everywhere.

These images were taken after we passed Bozeman.

I90

We finally reached I90 and headed east towards Custer.

These were the last photos that I took except for the one that follows. It was still raining but not as heavily when we reached the “Welcome to Wyoming” sign. We did not get a photo of our first entrance into Wyoming, but we got it here.

We had rain and fog the entire rest of the drive. We supercharged again in Billings, Montana and decided that we would spend the night in Gillette, Wyoming.

Our journey would take us out of Idaho, Montana and into Wyoming and tomorrow finally into South Dakota. We are about two hours from Custer State Park and their scenic and wildlife driving loops. Our Hampton Inn has a Tesla Charger in the back of the hotel, and we will be ready to go bright and early. We hope to see some of the scenic drives around Custer and maybe see Mt. Rushmore tomorrow. We will stay overnight for two nights and then head home. We haven’t decided on that route yet, but we will try to make it fun!
