Our Cross-Country Adventure, Day 21

We left Rock Springs, Wyoming this morning and we headed on our way to Island Park, Idaho where we’re going to spend the next three nights. The supercharged in Rock Springs before we headed north. Everything was kind of boring but since the car was doing most of the driving I didn’t mind so much. Her first stop was a bathroom break and lunch in Boulder WY at the Boulder Country store. We had a very nice lunch and then we headed off on our way.

After Boulder we went through Boundary, Wyoming and as we crossed the bridge over a small stream, I noticed something out of the corner of my eye, and I said that Ronnie that I thought I saw a moose. We turned around and then turned around again and parked on the side of the bridge and I walked over to the bridge where I saw a moose standing in a stream. This really broke our status of not seeing any large animals so far on our trip. Not only was there a moose standing in the stream, but there was also another one eating leaves off a tree.]

Outside of Pinedale, Wyoming we stopped to take a picture of a bridge that used to support a railroad line that ran across it. The line is gone but the water and the view in the area was superb.

We were back in the mountains as we approached Jackson WY. They were awe struck again as we have been numerous times during our journey.

We supercharged in Jackson, Wyoming and then headed through the Teton Pass through the Teton Mountains. This mountain pass is closed to tractor trailers and travel trailers from November 1st until April 1st. part of the issue can be that there are avalanches in this area during the winter months. I am not sure if that is the reason, but it makes sense to us. The view through the pass was spectacular.

Between Jackson WY and Island Park ID, we spotted a herd of pronghorn antelope. They were cool to see. They seemed to be looking at me while I took their pictures.

It was a long drive, but we finally reached our rental home in Island Park, Idaho. It is a short distance from the West Yellowstone Park entrance.

As sunset approached, I sent up my DJI Mavic 3 drone to see what I could photograph. We haven’t seen many clouds since we have been out west. Ronnie thinks that it is because of the low humidity. Today, I got lucky. Here is sunset over the Grand Teton Mountains.

We will try to get there in the morning, and we will be here for three nights so we should have at least two to three more chances of visiting the park. We are looking forward to Old Faithful geyser and seeing the wildlife in the park.
