A steam cylinder and the drive wheel linkage on a steam locomotive - one of two that lie within twenty feet of each other at a depth of 80' feet in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Long Branch, New Jersey, USA. The locomotives date from the 1850's. They may have possibly been built by the Seth Wilmarth Union Works - a South Boston builder of locomotives from 1848 till 1855. The locomotives may be viewed or photographed by SCUBA divers but nothing can be removed and grappling hooks cannot be used to anchor in. The locomotives have a 2-2-2 wheel layout which was rare in the Americas.
