The ocean sunfish, Mola mola, off the coast of New Jersey, USA. It has many names in many languages, but the ocean sunfish vies for the title of strangest fish in the sea. It's Latin name, Mola mola , means millstone. Recorded up to two tons, this gentle giant inhabits all tropical and temperate seas. Swimming near the surface, the dorsal fin is sometimes mistaken for that of a shark, but the mola is anything but a man-eater.
