A dwarf brittlestar, Amphipholis (Axiognathus) squamata , on the wrist of diver Beth Dalzell of Brick, New Jersey off the coast of New Jersey, USA. This little brittle star is bioluminescent, capable of emitting light. The Puget Dwarf Brittle Star (A. pugetanus), which ranges from British Columbia to southern California, has the same disk diameter, but longer arms, 1 1/2" (38 mm), and is gray or banded gray-and-white.
