A Cory's Shearwater, Calonectris diomedea, looks below the surface for food. It is a pelagic species that only visits land to breed. The bird was photographed in the Atlantic Ocean 24 miles off the coast of Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA. These birds feed on fish, mollusks and offal and can dive to 50 feet in search of food.
