Beth Dalzell of Brick, NJ dives on a subway car on the Sea Girt Artificial Reef off Sea Girt, New Jersey, USA is from Philadelphia's SEPTA subway system. It has been on the bottom for ten years before these photos were taken. There has been much controversy over sinking additional cars because of asbestos concerns. In 2001, New York City offered 1300 subway cars to the NJ Artificial Reef Program. The offer was rejected due to the environmental concerns. The State of Delaware took advantage of the situation and are depositing the subway cars in their artificial reef system.
