The Rockland County is on the Sea Girt Artificial Reef off Sea Girt, New Jersey, USA. A large intact, upright, square-nosed barge pusher tugboat, the Rockland County is pretty impressive, even if the wheelhouse and stack were removed prior to sinking. The large "knees" at the bow are a unique feature of this reef. It was sunk as an artificial reef on 2/14/86. The forward part of the heavy hull is sunk well into the silty mud. The deckhouse is easily penetrated from the sides or the roof. In 1997, the Rockland County became a double wreck, when the "Fisherman" barge was sunk nearby. A 3 inch hawser connects the two wrecks, running from the port side of the tug to the bow of the upside down barge.
