The McGurr Tug, formerly named the Patrick McHugh is an 81.8' long tugboat with a beam of 23.3' and a draft of 10.9'. The "McGurr" was built in 1951 as the canaler "Edward Matton". It was sold to the Marania towing line and renamed the "Morania #9. It was then sold to John D. McHugh who named it the Patrick J. McHugh. Its U. S. Coast Guard registry no. was 261925. It is now named after Charles J. McGurr Jr., a past president of Ocean Wreck Divers of New Jersey who lived in Brick, NJ and was 52 when he apparently drowned while diving on the shipwreck of the Andrea Doria off Nantucket Island, Mass.
